Katumba was thrilled to have been booked to bring the carnival to the World Gymnastics Championships 2022.

Our fierce energy took over from theirs as they passed on the baton and let us take over to entertain them after their incredible performances over the week-long event.

We provided the gymnasts and their teams with the ultimate afterparty ice-breaker with our super energised, interactive drumming performance, as they sought to relax and celebrate after their high-profile appearances on the world gymnastics stage at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena.

The celebration was immense and culminated in a Conga line of champions including Gold medal winning Jessica Gadirova!

You can spot her heading up the conga line in our video!

The Gold medal Jessica earned for her incredible floor routine sealed the deal for Great Britain to surpass their old record of five medals at a World Championship, with six medals achieved over the week.

It was Britain’s best EVER performance overall at the World Championships, so you can imagine the atmosphere at the party!

Liverpool absolutely tore the roof off when it became clear that Jessica had scored Gold, making her Britain’s youngest ever gymnastics world champion, and only the second British woman after three-time gold medalist Beth Tweddle to win a world title.

Overall, Jessica delivered Great Britain’s first ever women’s all-around World Gymnastics Championships medal with bronze.

A medal win that ensures the five women strong GB gymnastics team a place at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Liverpool has a proud history of women’s gymnastics.

Beth Tweddle, who started at the City of Liverpool Gymnastics Club when she was twelve years old and attended Liverpool John Moores University, was the first female gymnast from Great Britain to win a medal at the European Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games.

Beth has had an incredible career as a gymnast and headed up a new, empowered phase in British gymnastics at the beginning of the twenty-first century that saw the country’s gymnastics programme step into a period of consistent global competitiveness.

A position being maintained and surpassed by the GB gymnastics squad today.

The Katumba drums and joy were on a high even for us. As the elite athletes we partied with will testify!

We bring that world class energy to all our events.
