An experienced director and drama facilitator, firmly embedded in theatre, film and TV, Alessia is an incredibly busy contributor to Liverpool’s creative industries.
Alessia is a London-born director who has been performing and creating theatre since the age of twelve. She recently graduated from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, where she received a First Class BA in Applied Theatre and Community Drama.
Experienced as a workshop facilitator, Alessia has spent the past three years creating performance art in unconventional spaces, particularly with refugees and asylum seekers in Merseyside.
Through this work, Alessia met Katumba founder Juliana Landim and the Katumba Team, enlisting the band to perform at an event which celebrated the diverse community of Toxteth.
In addition to her role at Katumba, Alessia also works in the film and television industry as a stage manager, and is a bartender in Liverpool (she’s a busy bee!).
Ever since she moved to Liverpool, Alessia has been a huge fan of Katumba, and now she is with us she adores working in a community organisation which ensures inclusivity and wellbeing through art. Being a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Alessia hopes to continue directing and creating art that celebrates diversity and brings joy to those who watch.
