On Sunday 19th August drummers are dropping their drumsticks and cracking out the hiking boots to climb 9 miles up and 9 miles down the highest mountain in Wales! Led by walking group Fillyaboots, members and supporters of the band will trek approximately 7 hours from Llanberis Railway Car Park right up to the summit of Snowdon.
The sponsored climb is part of Katumba’s ongoing efforts to raise funds for raise funds for a much needed new van.
Katumba bass player and Fillyaboots guide Rebecca Glover said “This beautiful 7 hour trek is open to all levels – we will only walk as fast as our slowest walker. There is a cafe at the summit of Snowdon so we can all celebrate our climb with some cake and a cup of tea (or maybe something a little stronger; they serve some fine local Welsh ales in the café!).”
GET INVOLVED!

WHAT WILL I NEED?
+ plenty of water
+ packed lunch for climbing fuel
+ sunblock. Yes, Wales can get sunny too!
+ waterproof (kag in a bag, anyone?)
+ no denim – it’s heavy, chafes and drags when wet.
+ Walking boots/shoes are recommended, but a decent pair of trainers will suffice (probably best to leave the flip flops at home!)
