Christmas 2022 officially arrives as 5,000 Santas get drummed over the finishing line by Katumba!
We are in awe once again at the scale and energy of the Liverpool Santa Dash – the biggest and longest established Santa Run in the UK!
We were honoured to be performing at the spectacular, much loved Liverpool Santa Dash that heralds the beginning of Christmas for thousands of people here in Liverpool.
Our naughty elves and souped-up Santa’s drummed their hearts out encouraging around 5,000 runners, wearing a mix of Liverpool’s traditional red and blue Santa outfits, reflecting our two premier league clubs.
The Santa’s flowed through the city centre passing through the Royal Albert Dock and back along the main waterfront roads before squeezing themselves into the tightly packed streets to finish in front of the Town Hall.
Runners were greeted with giant Christmas characters and a flurry of snow on the finish line.
This year this incredible event, which in its second year even gained Guinness World Record status for the Biggest Santa Gathering, raised funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
The hospital is raising funds for a new, state of the art £3M Surgical Neonatal Unit for newborn babies and their families.
The unique unit will be the first of its kind in the UK.
If you haven’t taken part before, we highly recommend getting involved.
It is an accessible event open to everyone, from those running purely for fun to groups of fundraisers.
Every year Santas walk, jog, or run alongside wheelchair participants, families, groups of friends or colleagues – including tiny Santas in prams or carriers.
Even four-legged furry Santas have been spotted.
Katumba drummers provide an energy injection and carnival style spectacle right where it is needed encouraging the participants, and amplifying the energy and fun that all the runners and crowds bring with them.
