‘Dance of the Diaspora’ is here!

Our Carnival DANCE partners Movema will be creating a high impact, dazzling dance troupe to work it through the streets as a key part of the Carnival Parade, celebrating our identity and our city in MOVEMENT.

This means YOU. Yes, you!

How to get involved

Join in one of the six Workshop sessions, then bring it to the Carnival!

Sessions are EVERY THURSDAY EVENING of the run up to the Carnival.

Together with YOU, the Caribbean Community Centre, the Afro Dance Academy and the Black Women’s Health Group, we will explore through dance the history of our global majority communities and the effects of climate change to create a powerful impact on the streets.

We will create an exciting troupe to dance through the streets, to celebrate our identity and city.

Sessions will be led by Afro Fusion dance artists Dori Filipe (Afro beats, Afro house) from Angola, Wendy Okoli ( Afro beats and Samba) from Nigeria, and Ithalia Forel ( Soca, and West African) from Liverpool – St. Lucia.

The dance element of the Carnival Parade will take place between 6-9pm on Saturday 29 October, starting in Bold Street and ending outside John Lewis around 8-8:30pm on Paradise Street at Liverpool One.
